What is Kidsoma?

KIDSOMA, developed by Ale Duarte, is a playful and body-based approach designed to support children’s emotional and nervous system regulation through movement, awareness, and connection. Rooted in somatic principles, it helps children build resilience, express themselves safely, and develop a deeper sense of body awareness in a natural and engaging way. Through games, gentle exercises, and creative exploration, KIDSOMA nurtures confidence, self-regulation, and a sense of safety, offering children valuable tools to navigate their feelings and experiences with greater ease.

Children often process and heal from overwhelming or traumatic experiences through play, which is their most natural form of expression and communication. Rather than needing to talk about what happened, children can use movement, imagination, and sensory exploration to gently revisit and release difficult experiences at their own pace. Through play, they are able to shift between moments of activation and safety, allowing the nervous system to gradually restore balance without becoming overwhelmed.

When supported in a safe and attuned environment, this kind of play helps children rebuild a sense of control, confidence, and trust in themselves and others. Repetitive games, creative storytelling, and physical expression can all support the integration of challenging experiences, helping the body complete stress responses that may have been interrupted. In this way, play becomes a powerful pathway for resilience, allowing children to return to a natural state of curiosity, connection, and ease.
